The use of high-tech digital x-ray technology allows our patients to receive better dental care while cutting appointment times in half.

X-ray imaging is an essential part of your dental care. It is used not only as a means to diagnose current problems, but as a preventative measure to spot any problems that may occur in the future. Chehalis Dental Care uses x-ray imaging on a daily basis at our office, but instead of the old technique that involves films and lengthy wait times, we use advanced digital technology.

When taking x-ray images during an office visit, Chehalis Dental Care relies upon the use of high-tech digital x-ray technology to provide clear, high resolution pictures of your teeth. This helps us to accurately diagnose any problems and come up with the best course of treatment for you.

The process involved with taking the x-ray photos is similar to traditional film x-rays, but it is faster and safer. In fact, digital x-rays use up to 90% less radiation than traditional x-ray imaging. That means our patients are not being exposed to potentially harmful radiation on a regular basis.

If a digital x-ray is needed, one of our dental hygienists will insert a small sensor into your mouth. This sensor is connected to a nearby computer and is used to capture the images of a single tooth or set of teeth. The sensor is about the only thing that is similar to traditional x-ray technology, as it resembles the bitewing used with film x-rays.

Once the x-ray is taken, the image is quickly sent to the computer and is available for immediate viewing. There is no wait time involved, as the dental staff no longer has to go through the lengthy process of processing the x-ray film. Our dental staff can view the images within minutes of it being taken.

One of the main goals we have here at Chehalis Dental Care is help our patients take a hands-on approach to their dental care. The use of digital x-ray technology allows us to do just that with our patients.

All of our exam rooms have large-screen monitors which can be used to display any digital x-ray that was taken. We can display the image of your tooth on the screen and use it to explain any necessary procedures you may need. This hands-on approach helps you to better understand your oral health, while giving you the opportunity to truly take part in your dental care.
